- harlot is called a great city…potential connection to rev 11:8…where the Lord was crucified…
- vatican isn’t on the 7 hills of rome…its actually separated and isn’t in that part of Rome
- scarlet and purple…priests where all colors (blue, black, etc)…sounds like its talking about royalty…the reason they wear it is different then this passage
- even if rome…its pagan rome…something that existed in John’s day…and the Vatican wasn’t built until a long time later…

Nothing says, city within a city…no such thing as Vatican city in the book of Revelation…it did not have authority over the kings of the earth…
It never had dominion…over all the kings of the earth or even the majority…now it doesnt have dominion over any kings of the earth…
the harlot is a city…not a church…

- Whore (Jerusalem) and beast (Pagan Rome, Emperor Nero, his empire) team up in persecuting early Christians but were enemies…when temple was destroyed, the beast, Nero left it desolate.
- Jerusalem (Matthew 23…) saints are going to be killed in Jerusalem…parallels what John says
- Romans and inhabitants of Jerusalem…woman on back of scarlet beast…
- the beast will invade the harlot and leave her desolate
